72X72cm, Painted on Korean traditional paper (Hanji), 2022
"Girin” is a chimera or a hybrid animal typically depicted as having the face of dragon, the body of a deer or horse and the tail of a cow. It also has a long, slender neck with a single horn protruding from its forehead, similar to a unicorn. In Korean mythology, Girin is considered a sacred creature, believed to bring peace and prosperity to those who encounter it.
Girin, a mystical creature, soared through the skies over Korea's misty mountains, its gentle smile welcoming you. As a guardian, Girin brought peace and serenity wherever it flew. One day, it discovered a cloud formation that looked like peony petals, and the sweet fragrance of the flowers filled the air. Whenever you needed to find peace and serenity, Girin would lead you up into the peony clouds, surrounded by the beauty and wonder of the natural world.'
